Idaho Delegation to Participate in the International Singapore Airshow Along With Six Idaho Companies
BOISE, Idaho—Thursday, February 1, 2018— The Idaho Department of Commerce will participate in the semi-annual Singapore Airshow on February 6-11. Idaho Commerce and the Idaho-Asia Trade Office will be joined by six Idaho companies that specialize in producing, manufacturing, and distributing aerospace and defense products and services.

This is Idaho Commerce’s first time exhibiting at what is known as Asia’s largest and one of the most important aerospace and defense events in the world. The Singapore Airshow has established itself as the top event for  emerging opportunities, developing new partnerships and solidifying deals within the region. The event attracted over 48,000 trade visits from around the globe in its last rendition. This year, alongside over 1,000 companies from over 45 countries, Idaho’s exhibitors will have the opportunity to generate new sales leads, promote their companies, meet existing clients, network within the industry, and meet military and civil delegations. It is estimated that the Singapore Airshow will generate over $400,000 of revenue for Idaho companies.

“Our team at Idaho Commerce has been working closely with the Idaho Aerospace Alliance to promote and support our state’s growing aerospace industry around the world. We are excited about the developing global partnerships that our Idaho aerospace and defense companies are building and look forward to new opportunities at the Singapore Airshow,” said Idaho Commerce Director Bobbi-Jo Meuleman.

“The Singapore Airshow is the most important biennial airshow in Southeast Asia Region and it provides great opportunities for interested exporters to reach potential customers in the whole region,” said Eddie Yen, Director & Official Representative of the Idaho-Asia Trade Office.

The companies joining the Commerce team in the Idaho Pavilion include:

AeroLEDs designs and manufactures all LED aircraft lighting solutions and continues to add to its impressive line of FAA-approved products that have shown overwhelming industry acceptance and use over the past eleven years. It was founded out of necessity to fill a void of high-output/low-power applications for the Experimental/Special Use aircraft with limited electrical system capabilities. LEDs allow consistent light output at various voltage levels, which initiated the discussions about using LED technology to create aircraft LED landing lights, aircraft LED strobe lights, and LED position lights to greatly reduce current draw and maintenance, by eliminating bulb replacements. Innovation and engineering are the cornerstone components of AeroLEDs and their mission statement is based on challenging the conventional approach to solving problems by always asking: “What’s Next?”

Aviation Specialties Unlimited (ASU) is known world-wide for providing innovative products, services, and training in Aviation NVIS Systems and NVIS lighting products that enhance mission capabilities and improve safety of operations. ASU was established 20 years ago in Boise, Idaho, to meet the growing demand for night vision systems within public and civil aviation operations. The new ASU white phosphor NVG is the latest technological breakthrough in Generation III aviation goggles. White phosphor technology greatly surpasses many key performance parameters that are important to pilots and crew members, including low-light performance, high-light performance, and reliability. ASU stands out as the leader in NVIS installations and government compliance with more than 900 NVIS lighting modifications for flight operations, and holds an impressive list of FAA issued Supplemental Type Certificates (STC’s). ASU is firmly established with flight operations worldwide and offers basic to advanced courses in NVIS flight training and NVG inspection and maintenance.

Black Sage’s UASX is a multimodal counter-drone platform that automatically detects, identifies and defeats consumer drones. It automates situational awareness and response to malicious UAVs. Its purpose is to provide the confidence of 24/7 persistent surveillance and protection. Ideal for industrial, government or commercial installations. Key features: (1) Detect: Doppler-range radars. (2) Identify: AI pattern recognition for automatic target classification, infrared/visible imagers and video tracking for optional identification. (3) Defeat: Directional multi-band jammers (Range: 250m to 7000m; Direction: 90 degrees to 360 degrees).

Tamarack Aerospace Group invented, and holds multiple patents, on its revolutionary Active Winglet system for business, commercial, and military aircraft. Tamarack’s certified Active Winglets are three to four times more efficient than passive (traditional) winglets, and are the only certified aerodynamic technology available today which can reduce time to climb and fuel burn, while increasing range and aircraft stability, without the need for wing structural reinforcement, yielding significant time and cost savings. The system is comprised of a wing tip extension, a highly tuned winglet, and a high-speed load alleviation device. The load alleviation system senses and counteracts gust or maneuver wing loading events and eliminates the heavy wing reinforcement and structural additions required by all passive winglets. Beyond improved range and time to climb, operators also see other benefits of Tamarack’s Active Winglets such as stability, improved hot/high performance, aesthetics and value retention. Tamarack Active Winglets are approved via EASA, Transport Canada, ANAC and FAA Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for installation on the Cessna CJ, CJ1, CJ1+ and M2 business jets. Certifications pending on the CJ2/CJ2+ and CJ3/3+ are projected in Q118.

Attendees of the Singapore Airshow can visit the Idaho Pavilion located in Stand P95 within the U.S.A. Partnership Pavilion.

This program is funded in part through a grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
