Idaho Travel Council Announces August 2-3 Meeting

BOISE, Idaho—July 27, 2016—The Idaho Travel Council (ITC) will hold its annual summer meeting and grant awards at the Riverside Inn in Lava Hot Springs on Tuesday, August 2 and Wednesday, August 3.

The meeting begins at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday and will include an update from Southeast Idaho High Country Tourism on its official name change, followed by tourism grant reviews. Continuing on Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m., the ITC will award over $4.5 million dollars in grants to encourage travel and tourism around the state. The council will also review the Idaho Tourism budget and hear agency updates along with presentations from the Bear Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau, Lava Hot Springs Foundation, Lava Hot Springs properties, and Southeast Idaho High Country Tourism.

Created in 1981, the Idaho Regional Travel and Convention Grant Program is funded through a two percent lodging tax collected by Idaho hotels, motels, and private campgrounds on the sale of rooms and camping sites. For more information on the ITC Grant Program, click here.

Growing Idaho’s economy by increasing visitor expenditures throughout the state is the goal of the Idaho Travel Council and the Idaho Department of Commerce – Tourism Development.
