Governor Otter Awards Community Development Block Grants
Federally funded grants benefit economic development in Idaho cities and counties
BOISE, ID— May 12, 2015—Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced today that 19 Idaho Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) awards will be distributed to benefit economic development and help establish community centers in cities and counties throughout Idaho.
“It’s amazing to see all of the growth and development that communities across Idaho are pursuing,” Governor Otter said. “The State of Idaho is pleased to help them improve the infrastructure necessary to attract new businesses and serve our citizens.”
All grant awards are reviewed and recommended by the Idaho Economic Advisory Council, and final approval is granted by the Governor. The 19 cities and counties receiving CDBG grants are listed below:
Public Facilities Awards
- City of Wendell – Wastewater System Improvement Project – $434,417
- City of Franklin City – Wastewater System Improvement Project – $500,000
- City of Driggs – Water System Improvement Project – $500,000
- City of Kellogg – Wastewater System Improvement Project – $500,000
- Lemhi County (sub-recipient – Elk Bend Sewer District) – Wastewater System Improvement Project – $500,000
- City of Blackfoot – Wastewater System Improvement Project – $500,000
- City of White Bird – Wastewater System Project – $300,000
- City of Wallace – Wastewater System Improvements Project – $500,000
- City of Cambridge – Wastewater System Improvements Project – $500,000
- City of New Meadows – Wastewater System Improvements Project – $470,000
- City of Tetonia – Water System Improvements Project – $500,000
- City of Bonners Ferry – Water System Improvements Project – $350,000
Senior & Community Center Awards
- City of Cottonwood – Community Center Improvements Project – $150,000
- City of Post Falls – Senior Center Improvements Project – $150,000

- Franklin County – Senior Center Improvements Project – $106,500

Economic Development Awards
- Gooding County – Infrastructure to Jobs – $430,000
The Idaho CDBG program supports Idaho cities and counties with development of necessary public infrastructure. The grant program, funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, is used to construct projects that benefit low- and moderate-income persons, help prevent or eliminate slum and blight conditions, or solve catastrophic health and safety threats in local areas.
