Idaho Broadband Grant Program Applications Open June 18

BOISE, Idaho (June 18, 2021) — The Idaho Broadband Advisory Board and Idaho Department of Commerce will begin accepting applications for the Idaho Broadband Grant program on June 18 at 5:00 p.m. MST. Applications must be submitted via the Department’s online portal.

The Idaho Broadband Advisory Board and Idaho Department of Commerce seek to fund broadband projects across the state that are necessary for assisting with or improving distance learning, telehealth, telework and public safety. This Idaho Broadband Fund, CARES Act Broadband Grant, is designed to meet the CARES Act criteria, helping Idaho rebound from the COVID-19 public health emergency.

Applications will open on Friday, June 18, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. MST. The application period will close on Friday, July 16, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. MST.

$10 million from the CARES Act Federal COVID Relief Fund was appropriated to the Idaho Broadband Fund during the 2021 legislative session.

Eligible applicants must be a local or tribal government or an Idaho state agency. For ease of administration, the Broadband Grant adopts the definition of Idaho local government as described in Idaho Code section 67-1226.  Additionally, a county and an unincorporated community may agree in writing to have the county submit an application for a Broadband Grant award on behalf of the unincorporated community.
