State Seeks Nominees for Recreation and Tourism Award
Lifetime Achievement Award winner will be selected by the Governor.

BOISE, Idaho – February 23, 2016 – Nominations are open for outstanding lifetime achievement in the fields of Idaho recreation and tourism. A selection will be made by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter for an individual who has made significant contributions to developing, managing or conserving Idaho’s recreation resources, or developing, managing or promoting tourism in Idaho.

The award will be presented in May during the Idaho State Conference on Recreation and Tourism and National Travel and Tourism Week.

The annual Idaho State Conference on Recreation and Tourism is sponsored by tourism-related organizations and partners to provide an industry forum for public, private and non-profit travel professionals throughout Idaho. This year’s conference will be held May 3-5 at the Best Western Plus University Inn in Moscow.

Tourism ranks third among Idaho industries with contributions to the state’s gross domestic product (GDP) of $1.3 billion. Idaho lodging tax collections are up 13.78 percent over the first seven months of fiscal 2015 at more than $6.6 million.
