Idaho Conference on Recreation and Tourism Convenes May 5-7, During National Travel and Tourism Week

Boise, Idaho – March 10, 2015 – The Idaho Conference on Recreation and Tourism (ICORT) will be held at The Riverside Hotel in Boise May 5-7, during National Travel and Tourism Week. Organizers expect 150 Idaho lodging property owners and managers, outfitters and guides, tourism industry professionals and recreation providers to attend the conference to share ideas and learn about new opportunities to market themselves. “The ICORT planning team is very excited about this year’s conference program,” said Diane Norton, tourism manager for the Idaho Commerce – Travel and Tourism Development office. “The agenda addresses tourism trends, insights into big data and best practices for collaborating with partners.”

On Tuesday afternoon, ICORT attendees may choose to participate in a wine tour, public art tour, history and restaurant tour or a brewery tour. Presentation of the Governor’s Lifetime Achievement in Travel & Tourism award and the Idaho Bed & Breakfast Association’s Inn-Spirational Innkeeper award will highlight this evening’s all-Idaho reception which will feature Idaho sourced proteins, vegetables, fruits, grains, beer, wine, and spirits. Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction to benefit the Larry J. May Hospitality Management Scholarship Fund.

On Wednesday, Keynotes and breakout sessions focus on a wide variety of subjects, including culinary tourism, bicycle tourism, Google Analytics, international tourism, generational marketing and public art and tourism. 

On Thursday morning, a Social Media Lab will be offered to provide intensive and concise training in the use, viability and effectiveness of the most popular social media platforms.
