Shark Tank episode to premier on Friday, February 22, 2013
BOISE, Idaho—Monday, February 11, 2013— Proof Eyewear, headquartered in Eagle, Idaho, will soon have the opportunity to share their experience on the national reality television show Shark Tank. The three founders of Proof Eyewear, who also happen to be brothers, presented their small, Idaho-based business and pitched their idea to five celebrity business investors with the hope of gaining a large financial investment.
Proof Eyewear manufactures and sells high-quality, designer glasses and sunglasses made from sustainable wood sources. A significant portion of each sale goes to support worthy causes such as eye clinics in India that provide sight-restoring surgeries to those who can’t afford it, and non-profits that are helping reforestation efforts in Haiti.
The Shark Tank episode will premiere on ABC on Friday, February 22 at 7:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time). In addition to gaining a possible financial investment from the celebrity panel, Shark Tank also offers high visibility on the national stage. Taylor Dame, chief marketing officer for Proof Eyewear, explained, “We also desired to gain million-dollar or even billion-dollar resources and contacts, which the celebrity investors can provide.”
Proof’s newest product, the Skate Edition, features glasses created from five-ply maple skateboard decks. Proof also recently released a new line of apparel that includes shirts, five panel hats, and crew neck sweaters.
Proof Eyewear was started in an Eagle garage in 2010, and in three years the founders grew the company into an internationally known and beloved brand. The roots of Proof began when the founders’ Grandpa Bud opened his small sawmill almost 60 years ago in Fruitland. That small business grew into the family owned and operated and nationally recognized company Woodgrain Millwork. The brothers carried over their grandpa’s principles into their business, as Proof prides itself on creating original products that are handcrafted from sustainable materials. Proof Eyewear continues to innovate and provide a wide variety of products that aren’t just environmentally friendly, but also are unique and original.
Shark Tank is an American reality TV show that has been nominated for multiple Emmys. The show originally premiered on ABC television in August 2009 and the producers of the show are on a nationwide search to discover the next successful entrepreneurs, inventors, businesspersons, creators and innovators. In each episode, entrepreneurs are given the chance to make their business grow immediately by presenting their company or idea to a celebrity panel seeking opportunities to invest.
