Owner Robyn Bruns moved to Idaho last year and is already bringing big changes to the region
Robyn Bruns, owner of Red Letter Event Planning in Coeur d’Alene, recently won several 2013 Wedding Industry Experts Awards, including Best Wedding Planner in Coeur d’Alene and Best Wedding Planner in Idaho. She also placed 23rd in the nation and 38th in the world for Best Wedding Planner. The annual award requires nominees to garner votes from current and past clients, as well as vendor collaborators.
Bruns is an accredited bridal consultant and has owned Red Letter Event Planning since 2005. She decided to move the business from Chicago last year and has been working to market the Coeur d’Alene, Sandpoint, and eastern Washington area as the place for destination weddings. She essentially had to rebuild her entire business from the ground up, as all vendors, partners and venues change when an event planning business moves cities.
“I want to work with good partners and give my clients the best package possible,” Bruns said. “The opportunities in northern Idaho and eastern Washington are endless, and at Red Letter we’re able to customize a package specifically for the couple’s needs and to create the most enjoyable experience for their guests.”
Bruns likes to call her particular brand of wedding planning “Renaissance Wedding Planning” because she works to include everything possible in the package – making the entire planning process, as well as the wedding itself, comfortable for the bride and groom, as well as for their guests. Bruns explained that if someone attends a destination wedding and enjoys the region, they are more likely to come back for a vacation. Bruns quickly realized the potential that the region – with its wide open spaces, small town feel and gorgeous venues – is perfect for weddings and other events.
In addition to marketing northern Idaho and eastern Washington as a unique destination, Bruns also wants to start marketing the off-season for weddings. When told by area vendors and venues that they essentially stop having ceremonies after August, Bruns was shocked. She realized that the opportunity for fall and winter weddings in the spectacular outdoors is yet another reason to work toward bringing more awareness to the region.
