In 1994, with the help of Community Development Block Grant (CBDG) funding, the City of Winchester was able to construct a 3-door fire engine bay for their all-volunteer fire department.

Still operating today, Winchester Fire Station provides protection to the City of Winchester and surrounding communities. WVFD responds to structure and wildland fires, vehicle extrication and other rescue operations.
