What the Grant Program Is…
ITC Grants funds promote events and destinations, the goal dircected toward: increasing visitor stays at Idaho hotels, motels, and private campgrounds.
Leveraging the power of the press by hosting travel writers, convention planners, sports club representatives, and tour operators is another activity the program supports. ITC Grants can be considered seed monies to lay the groundwork for self-sustaining promotion programs.
What the Grant Program Isn’t…
ITC Grant Program funds cannot be used used to put on events; make capital improvements; purchase signage or office equipment; or promote small, local events. (However, unique benefits of events that have the potential of having a measurable impact on consumer travel and spending patterns can be included in a grant application and will be judged on their specific merits.)
Things to Consider...
- ITC grants are reimbursement grants; that is, money is not handed to a grantee at the beginning of the grant year with the expectation that it will be applied as outlined in the grant application. Money spent on approved projects in a manner consistent with grant rules will be reimbursed upon provision of the appropriate paperwork.
- The program is very documentation intensive. The person serving as grant manager should have the necessary time and skills to handle the grant reimbursement process.
- Non-profit status must be obtained before applying for the grant. If the application is a multi-regional application, each participating region must submit the above-mentioned documentation. If the application is funded, a Memorandum of Agreement, describing the roles of all participating parties, is required. Contact cathy.bourner@tourism.idaho.gov for further information on multi-regional grant application.
- ITC grant money must be matched by 12.5 percent cash from the community, region, or membership where your organization operates. Match requirements are on a 12.5 percent basis ($1,000.00 ITC to $125.00 local/regional). You need to specify the source of the cash match in your grant application.
Documents summarizing those organizations/individuals contributing match to the grant. It is the applicant’s responsibility to maintain official letters of match commitment on file. If the total ITC request is one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) or more, an audit category must be included
