Created in 1981, the Idaho Regional Travel and Convention Grant Program is funded through a two percent (2%) tax on the sale of hotels, motels, and private campground accommodations.

2012 Idaho Travel Council marketing priorities.

Total lodging tax receipts are dispersed as follows:

• 10% to administration of the tax
• 45% to fund travel promotion statewide
• 45% to the region from which it came as travel and convention promotion grants

Grants totaling $3,203,743 were made to twenty-eight (28) applicants for the 2012 grant year In addition to awarding grants within their respective region, Idaho Travel Council (ITC) members are able to award grants to multi-region or statewide applicants.  Four multi-region applicants were among those awarded grant monies.
