Ideas. Innovations. Idaho.
Idaho has a long history of entrepreneurs and innovators dating from Philo Farnsworth and the modern television to the Parkinson brothers and Micron Technology.
Today, technology is the state’s largest industry, representing nearly 18 percent of all wages and more than 70 percent of Idaho’s exports.
Idahoans show their pioneering spirit by starting new businesses at three times the national average, according to the Small Business Administration. More than 50,000 Idahoans work in the technology industry.
The “Ideas. Innovations. Idaho” license plate not only celebrates the state’s largest industry but encourages future innovators of all ages. In fact, the design was created cooperatively between a northern Idaho middle school student and a southern Idaho design firm, the result of a statewide contest in spring 2005.
