BOISE, Idaho—Monday, May 1, 2017— John Kotek, Vice President of Policy Development and Public Affairs for the Nuclear Energy Institute, was presented with an award on behalf of the Leadership in Nuclear Energy Commission 2.0 in appreciation of his service to the LINE Commission, Department of Energy, and the people of Idaho.

Kotek has been Vice President of Policy Development & Public Affairs at the Nuclear Energy Institute since January 9, 2017. Prior to his new role, Kotek served as Acting Assistant Secretary in the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy where he worked hard to promote Idaho and Idaho National Laboratory’s nuclear energy and national security programs. Before becoming Assistant Secretary at DOE, Kotek was the Managing Partner of the Boise, Idaho office of Gallatin Public Affairs.

LINE Commission 2.0 Co-Chairs Lt. Governor Brad Little and Admiral John Grossenbacher presented Kotek with the award at the April 21 commission meeting at the Shoshone Bannock Events Center.

The LINE Commission 2.0 was created by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter through Executive Order 2013-02, and is charged with implementing and overseeing progress on recommendations from the original LINE Commission (LINE 1.0). Governor Otter extended the work of LINE 1.0 after it completed its initial scope of work. LINE 2.0’s work is focusing on the six recommendations and over a dozen proposals for immediate action that were part of the final report the Governor received from the original commission.
