2016 Lifetime Achievement Award in Recreation and Tourism Presented to Jerald J. Jaeger

Moscow, Idaho—May 3, 2016—Jerald J. Jaeger was presented the 2016 Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Recreation and Tourism today at the opening reception for the Idaho Conference on Recreation and Tourism.

As a business owner, resident of Coeur d’Alene, and citizen devoted to his community and state, Mr. Jaeger’s nearly five decades of service in recreation and tourism have yielded accomplishments that Idahoans and visitors now enjoy and benefit from each and every day.

Some of Mr. Jaeger’s most notable contributions include:

  • His work on the Idaho Statute to establish funding for tourism promotion through a lodging tax.
  • Partnering with Duane Hagadone to design and construct the Coeur d’Alene Resort, golf course, marina, and spa which positively influenced the growth of tourism in north Idaho and around the sta Council.
  • His work to establish the Coeur d’Alene Visitors and Convention Bureau.
  • Serving on a number of boards and committees in support of business, tourism, education and community service.

“Jerry’s hospitality industry know-how combined with his ability to conceive of and then bring to fruition programs and projects that will leave a lasting positive impact on Idaho and its people is incomparable,” Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter said. “Tourism is a growing piece of the Gem State’s identity thanks to his leadership and dedication.”

The Governor’s Lifetime Achievement Award in Recreation and Tourism is awarded to an organization and/or individual for significant contributions to developing, managing or conserving Idaho’s recreation resources, or developing, managing or promoting tourism in Idaho.
