Idaho Grant Program to Help Small Businesses Statewide
Where will the next life-changing technology be discovered? It could emerge from one of the Idaho companies who qualify for dozens of $3,000 grants available through the Idaho Department of Commerce. Qualifying companies would need to use the funds to seek much larger federal Small Business Innovation Research grants or other federal grants to further research and development of technologies.

Areva Plans to Build a $2 Billion Uranium Plant in Idaho
French-owned energy services company Areva Inc. will build what its said will be a $2 billion uranium enrichment facility near the eastern Idaho city of Idaho Falls, after winning tax concessions from the state Legislature meant to lure the plant to the region.

Idaho Among Top 10 States for Entrepreneurship
Idaho, eight other states and the District of Columbia launched the most businesses in 2007, according to a report released Thursday.
The upsurge in entrepreneurs starting new businesses was closely tied with stronger economic and population growth, says Robert Fairlie, and economics professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and co-author of the annual report on entrepreneurs by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.
The report found that the highest "entrepreneurial activity rates" were in the District of Columbia, Idaho, Arizona, Tennessee, Louisiana, Wyoming, Vermont, Montana, Georgia, and California.

Don Dietrich Named Commerce Director
(BOISE) – Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter announced the appointment today of Don Dietrich as director of the Idaho Department of Commerce. Dietrich had been acting director since former director Jim Ellick took a leave of absence in early February and subsequently resigned.
