Nordic Windpower Offered $16M DOE Loan Guarantee to Expand its US Wind Turbine Production
Nordic Windpower USA, Inc. announced today that it has received a conditional commitment for a $16 million loan guarantee offer from the US Department of Energy (DOE), supported through the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Nordic is among the first companies to receive the DOE’s loan guarantee offer. The company, based in Berkeley, CA, will use funds from the US Federal Financing Bank to support the expansion of its assembly plant in Pocatello, Idaho.

Boise Firm Starts Work on 14 Wind Farms Across Southern Idaho
Exergy Development Group begins construction of 14 wind parks across southern Idaho that will produce 228 megawatts of electricity and put Idaho in the top 20 states for wind power. The Boise-based company will create 275 jobs during the seven months of construction and 22 permanent positions in the largest wind development project to date in the state.

Quiznos picks Balihoo for Local Franchise Marketing
National quick service restaurant chain Quiznos has signed on to use the Local Marketing Automation solution from Boise-based marketing technology firm Balihoo for all of its roughly 4,000 franchises. Shane Vaughan, V.P. of marketing for Balihoo, said the deal makes Quiznos the company's largest client and will require the addition of between two and four staff members to service the account.

Deals Could Add 100 Jobs in Lewiston
David C. Howell, owner of Howell CNC and Machine, Inc., and Ammo Load Worldwide, Inc., at Lewiston reached a tentative agreement with an out-of-state investment group to form three new companies here with an annual payroll of about $2.4 million plus benefits. The three companies could add about 100 employees to the 30 employed at Howell's D Street site, according to Operations Manager Stuart Davis and a news release.

ATK Lands Contract for $14M in Ammo
A quarter-million French police officers will be supplied with Speer Gold Dot 9 mm ammunition manufactured at ATK's Lewiston site for their pistols. ATK landed a contract for the work with a potential value of more than $14 million over four years sometime in the last two weeks, said Amanda Covington, a spokeswoman for ATK in Salt Lake City.
