Sun
Valley Film Festival and Treefort Music Fest bring creative crowds to Idaho
BOISE,
Idaho—March 1, 2013—In addition to bluebird ski days, budding trees, and
animals emerging from winter slumber, creativity also comes alive with the Idaho
spring. Two action-packed weekend festivals in March, the Sun Valley Film Festival and Treefort Music Fest, celebrate Idaho’s creative
spirit through film, music and art.
The
Sun Valley Film Festival is up first, running March 14-17,
2013 in Sun Valley, with films, parties, events and fabulous skiing. The event showcases more than 60 films of
varying length, including nine world premieres. Stand-out events include a
“Coffee Talk” with Academy Award-winning actress, producer and director Jodie
Foster, as well as a Screenwriter’s Lab led by Will McCormack, an Independent
Spirit Award Nominee and producer of “Celeste & Jesse Forever.” Keeping in the Idaho spirit, the Festival has
one award—the “Gem State Award”—given to the filmmaker who best captures the
beauty and diversity of Idaho. Visit http://sunvalleyfilmfestival.org for the
film lineup and more information. Get
Festival updates on Facebook
and Twitter.
Next up is the Treefort Music Fest, taking place March 21-24, 2013 in downtown Boise.
With more than 260 festival artists from all over the world, Treefort is bound
to rock. Headliners include Sharon Jones
& The Dap-Kings, Animal Collective and The Walkmen, as well as a great
line-up of Idaho bands including Built to Spill, Youth Lagoon, Finn Riggins and
Hillfolk Noir, among many others. Back for a second year, Alefort is a
celebration of craft and specialty beers from Idaho breweries and retailers and
a few out-of-town brewery guests. Local favorites Payette, Crooked Fence and
Sockeye breweries will showcase their libations for the crowd. Visit http://treefortmusicfest.com for more
information and get Treefort updates on Facebook and Twitter.
Creative
crossover is intentional, with the Sun Valley Film Festival Opening Night Party
featuring Treefort acts Built to Spill and Finn Riggins. The Treefort Music
Fest will feature panel discussions on music video production and a screening
from the Los Angeles Music Video Festival. Additionally, there will be a full day of
music-related films showing at the Egyptian Theatre on the final day of the Treefort
festival.
The
country is taking notice of Idaho’s creative focus, with Sun Valley just
recognized by USA Today as one of the
‘Top 10 Great Places for a Fabulous Film Fest’ and
Treefort hailed by Music Festival Junkies as Best Debut Festival in 2012.
It is easy to experience culture and creativity in Idaho. Simply purchase
tickets for the events listed above and head to Sun Valley and Boise. Special lodging deals can be found on the
