Twin Falls Chobani Plant Major Accomplishment for Local Engineering Firm

Boise, ID - January 3, 2013 - The new Chobani yogurt factory in Twin Falls celebrated its grand opening December 17th. The 1-million square-foot facility is said to provide over 300 jobs when at full operating capacity. Elite Edge Engineers, out of Boise, was hired for the formidable task of designing the facility’s structural steel package, which is supporting extensive manufacturing equipment including 500 miles of pipe and large processing tanks holding milk and yogurt products. Tippmann Construction out of Fort Wayne, IN, served as the general contractor and Elite Edge Engineers’ point of contact for the 11 month design-build construction schedule. The fast paced nature of the project required constant communication between the entire design and construction team forming an integrated and cost-effective design. 

Elite Edge Engineers is a woman owned, small business and certified DBE residing locally in Boise, Idaho. The engineering firm was founded in March of 2011 as, primarily, a bridge design firm but has expanded to include commercial, residential, and industrial building structures. Owner Lisa Vernon attributes this growth to her firm’s willingness to adapt to the current economic climate and desire to take on projects that challenge her staff of four engineers and the staff’s ability to work cohesively together. “The Chobani project proved that one of  Elite Edge Engineers’ core values, to communicate with transparency to build honest relationships, is key to the success for a project of this magnitude  and  further developed the camaraderie as a team.” Vernon said. “This project will go down as a significant accomplishment for Elite Edge Engineers as a firm, but also as a great contributor to the technical development for us as individual professional engineers.
