State Advisory Councils to Meet

Idaho Travel Council, Economic Advisory Council, and Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission Council to discuss a number of initiatives on January 10, 11 and 14

 

 BOISE, Idaho—January 8, 2012—Three statewide advisory councils will meet in Boise, both separately and jointly, to discuss economic development and tourism initiatives.  
The Economic Advisory Council will meet from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10 to review 19 Community Development Block Grant applications for public facilities, downtown revitalizations and imminent threats. They will also review two job creation project applications from the city of Ucon and Oneida County.  Staff will provide the Economic Advisory Council with updates on the private bond allocation plan and the small business credit initiative.  The meeting will be held in the J.R. Williams Building East Conference Room (700 W. State Street, Boise, Idaho).    

The Idaho Travel Council will hold its annual winter meeting from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10.  Items on the agenda include discussion of budget and room tax collections, grant updates, winter marketing and public relations campaign, Idaho Recreation & Tourism Initiative update, Drake Cooper Agency updates and the prime season media plan, as well as discussion on Idaho, the Movie, the Idaho Travel Guide and the Update Idaho database system.   There will also be presentations from Sojern, Salesforce.com, Idaho State Parks and a GIS demonstration.  The meeting will be held in the Sawtooth Conference Room at the Idaho Department of Commerce, second floor of the J.R. Williams Building (700 W. State Street, Boise, Idaho).    

The Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission (IGEM) Council will meet on Monday, January 14 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  The agenda will include a review of the IGEM Council’s proposed grant funding parameters.  There will be an opportunity for public testimony toward the end of the meeting.  The meeting will be held in the Sawtooth Conference Room at the Idaho Department of Commerce, second floor of the J.R. Williams Building (700 W. State Street, Boise, Idaho).    

All three councils will meet jointly on Friday, January 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Council members from each region will provide updates from their area. The joint meeting will also include updates from Idaho Commerce staff.  The meeting will be held in the in the J.R. Williams Building East Conference Room (700 W. State Street, Boise).
