IGEM Council Announces October 29 Meeting Agenda

BOISE, Idaho—October 23, 2012—The Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission (IGEM) Council is scheduled to meet on Monday, October 29, 2012, at the Idaho Department of Commerce (J.R. Williams Building, 2nd floor, 700 W. State St., Boise, Idaho).    

One of the primary responsibilities of the IGEM Council is to develop a statewide strategic plan to foster innovation.  The Council also oversees the Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission Grant Fund, which includes $950,000 appropriated by the Idaho State Legislature for grants.  IGEM Grant Funds will leverage private-industry guidance and the talent and expertise of Idaho’s research universities to commercialize innovative and viable technologies that will strengthen Idaho’s economy, create more job opportunities in our communities and meet the Governor’s Project 60 goals.  

The IGEM Council will meet from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The meeting agenda will feature a guest presentation from Dr. Robert Behunin, the Vice President  of Commercialization and Regional Development from Utah State University, who will report on the success and lessons learned from the USTAR program.  The Vice Presidents of Research from Boise State University, Idaho State University and University of Idaho will also showcase projects that have been successful within their respective institutions.
