Leadership in Nuclear Energy Commission Announces October 19 Meeting Agenda 


BOISE, Idaho—October 15, 2012—The Leadership in Nuclear Energy (LINE) Commission is scheduled to meet on Friday, October 19, 2012, at the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Twin Falls (539 Pole Line Road).    

The LINE Commission was created by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter through Executive Order 2012-01, and is charged with making recommendations to the Governor on policies and actions of the state of Idaho to support and enhance the long-term viability and mission relevance of the Idaho National Laboratory and the broader nuclear industry in the state.   

The LINE Commission will meet from 12:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  The meeting agenda will focus on a variety of topics including the dynamics of dry storage, transportation of nuclear materials and emergency preparedness, an overview of the Snake River Aquifer, and a presentation on high burn up fuels. The meeting will also feature an industry panel comprised of representatives from several Idaho companies that are part of the nuclear industry.

The LINE Commission is committed to an open and transparent process where members of the public can observe the Commission’s proceedings.  The October 19 meeting is open to the public and there will be an opportunity for public testimony toward the end of the meeting.   Due to meeting space limitations, live video streaming will not be available for this meeting.
