New Travel App Puts the Idaho Travel Guide at Travelers’ Fingertips

Idaho Travel Guide App will showcase the state in an engaging format with up to the minute destination information and special offers

Boise, ID:  Travelers have one more tool in their Idaho trip planning arsenal.  The Idaho Department of Commerce Division of Tourism has launched a free mobile app version of its Idaho Travel Guide just in time for summer vacation road trips.

The app will offer a multimedia interactive Idaho Travel Guide available on iPad, iPhone, and very soon, on Android. It will showcase the state’s scenic beauty, affordable family-friendly destinations and abundant outdoor recreational opportunities in an interactive and engaging format.

The apps are available in the iTunes marketplace:

Visit Idaho for iPhone http://tinyurl.com/ck55m8e
It will also be available in the Google Play marketplace in early June, and from the state’s travel website, www.visitidaho.org.

The app was built by Affinity Amp, a leading mobile application provider located in Boise, in partnership with Drake Cooper, a Boise creative agency, who has published the print version of the Idaho Travel Guide for years.  The mobile technology from Affinity Amp provides rich interactive content allowing visitors to navigate points of interest and attractions with their mobile tablet or phone.

“Visitors to the state can now plan their trip on a tablet device and access information about attractions, activities, local businesses and events on their iPhone, Android or mobile device when they have their feet on the ground exploring this beautiful state,” said David Edwards, EVP of Business Development for Affinity Amp.  “The difference between a static print travel guide and the mobile travel guide app is the dynamic, multimedia content and links to relevant info and advertisers. In addition, participating advertisers and destination marketing organizations can provide visitors with up to the minute information and special offers,” added Edwards.

Tourism businesses in Idaho interested in reaching visitors can reserve space within the app at any time.

“With Affinity Amp’s analytics console, the department and the participating businesses can see what content and offers are engaging users and what is being shared via social media from within the app,” said Karen Ballard, Administrator of the Department of Commerce Division of Tourism.  “The results will help us tailor future messaging and outreach to meet the needs of the visitor,” Ballard added.
