The Coeur d’Alene Resort Completes Year-Long Multi-Million Dollar Renovation Project

3/15/2012
COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho (March 15, 2012) – The award-winning Coeur d’Alene Resort in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, has completed an extensive year-long multimillion dollar renovation that includes a redesigned lobby, restaurant and lounge, outdoor patio, guest rooms in the original North Wing, expanded meeting spaces and fitness center.  With the new Hagadone Event Center on the shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene anchoring the reinvigoration project, the upgrades made to the property throughout the past year give The Coeur d’Alene Resort an entirely new modern look and offers guests more services.

“After 2 years of master planning, we are excited to unveil the new expansion and improvements at The Coeur d’Alene Resort,” said Jerry Jaeger, President and Co-Owner of Hagadone Hospitality. “We wanted to provide more outdoor space for guests to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of the breathtaking Lake Coeur d’Alene while transforming the lobby and dining spaces into inviting gathering spaces where guests feel comfortable lingering with a drink and by the fire.”

Led by Hagadone Hospitality’s in-house design team, Palm-Springs based designer Guy Dreier and local architect Corry Trapp, the year-long three-phase renovation project included:

Revitalized Lobby, Guest Rooms, Dining and Entertainment Locations
The resort’s lobby area underwent a massive renovation featuring a reimagined space showcasing a custom built-in 32-by-5-foot 2,200 gallon aquarium with Japanese and domestically-raised Koi fish to welcome guests at check-in, contemporary fireplace, 3,000-square-feet of Brazilian waterfall green granite, blonde hardwood flooring, Starbucks coffee bar, cozy and comfortable furnishings, and custom oil paintings of Dockside’s oversized Gooey desserts by artist David Dornan.

Guest rooms in the original North Wing have been outfitted with a new resort wide high definition entertainment system, black absolute granite furnishings and shower fixtures and entertainment bar.

Guests can enjoy elevated dining experiences at Dockside, a family friendly Lakeside restaurant, and Whispers Lounge with new interior designs and dining menus unveiled by Chef Rod Jessick and his culinary team. The revitalized Dockside includes a new state-of-the-art kitchen, “From Scratch” salad bar using organic ingredients and Gooey dessert station. The new menu highlights the best of seasonal Idaho cuisine with a variety of options from Dockside Nibblers, Local Favorites, Artisan Soups and Salads, Sandwiches and Burgers, Sizzling Plates, Fresh Fish and signature desserts including the Gooey desserts and fresh homemade Huckleberry cobbler.

Perfect for after-work cocktails or late night drinks, Whispers debuts a magnificent new look surrounded by five fire cauldrons and outdoor deck with four fire pits, creating more al fresco locations for guests to mingle with food and cocktails. A specialty cocktail menu highlights craft cocktails, coffee and dessert drinks and house infused liquors including cucumber vodka, jalapeno tequila, mint bourbon and limoncello. Guests can snack on bites from the appetizer menu including fresh peppered parmesan or imported Spanish paprika popcorn, Japanese peanuts and Prime Rib Sliders or enjoy a heartier selection from the entrée menu including Hand Breaded Halibut, Dungeness Crab Louis or Cowboy Ribeye.

Expanded Meetings & Conventions Spaces
The first phase of the renovation project, completed in summer 2011, included the debut of the 11,000-square-foot Hagadone Event Center with more than 200 feet of sliding glass walls, tall fireplaces and dynamically engineered sound systems and banquet space for 300 people. A beautiful lakeside setting for weddings, banquets and special events, the open-air venue expanded the resort’s overall meeting space to 43,000 square feet.

A new garden area overlooking the lake was also built adjacent to the Event Center surrounded by privacy berms planted with 20,000 multi-colored petunias and 5,000 junipers. Featuring a floating bridge in the center of a reflecting pool, the garden provides a beautiful outdoor setting for weddings and parties of up to 500 people.

Meeting, wedding and event planners can also take advantage of the Lakeview Terrace – a newly transformed 4,400-square-foot deck on the second floor of the resort that features outdoor fireplaces and space for up to 300 people.

Enhanced Leisure and Fitness Areas
Located adjacent to the Hagadone Event Center is a stunning 25-by-70-foot pool with a full-length infinity edge, sunning deck and fully-furnished private cabanas, creating a relaxing outdoor area for guests to enjoy while taking in panoramic lake views.

To increase the fitness options for guests, the Fitness Center, which overlooks the indoor swimming pool, was outfitted with sports court flooring and extensively expanded, tripling in size to 3,500-square-feet and featuring new state of the art fitness equipment including elliptical trainers, spinning and stationary bikes, treadmills with their own built in coach, Star Trac strength training equipment and TRX Isometric training station.
