Dog Bark Park Inn Recognized as a Top Five Odd Hotel
11/4/2011
Cottonwood, Idaho — Dog Bark Park Inn (www.dogbarkparkinn.com) in Cottonwood, ID was featured this week as a Top Five Odd Hotel on Wanderlust, a Yahoo News blog. Writer Lili Ladaga writes, “The owners take the definition of "dog lover" to new heights: The B&B was built in the shape of ... a beagle. Guests enter through the "belly" and sleep in the "head." There's also a cozy alcove in the "muzzle." There is a bathroom in the B & B, though an oversized carved fire hydrant completes the theme.
Owners Frances Conklin and Dennis Sullivan are also chainsaw artists, and have decorated the inn with canine carvings, handmade furniture and dog motifs both inside and out. There are actually two beagles on the property, with the largest, Sweet Willy, housing the sleeping quarters. The couple opened Dog Bark Park Inn in 2003.
"We're thrilled to make this list - being odd does have its advantages. Right away, inquiries for bookings and chainsaw dog carvings began coming in,” says Conklin.
