Nampa, ID: Nampa's Franz Bakery will double in size with the addition of 25,000 square feet of space.
Franz Bakery, the largest independent, family-owned bakery on the West Coast, purchased the Harvest Classic Bakery in Nampa in August 2010.

Since the purchase, Franz has added a retail outlet store on site along with the expansion. The bakery expansion, built by Benchmark Construction, is slated for completion later this summer.

Although the construction on the expansion is still in progress, the existing lines in the bakery are fully operational through the construction.

“The expansion at our Nampa bakery is exciting for many reasons,” Todd Cornwell, vice president of sales for Franz Family Bakeries, said in a press release. “We’re able to upgrade our current production lines to improve efficiencies, as well as create space for new lines in the future. This also improves our distribution hub and sets the stage for further expansion in the marketplace. We are very excited as this is another step in becoming an integral part of the Idaho marketplace and is a platform for future job growth in the Nampa/Boise community.”

There are currently 28 employees at the Nampa bakery. Since operation plans for the expansion are not yet finalized, officials cannot comment on any new jobs that could be created once the addition is completed.
