Idaho Exports Show Healthy Growth

11/30/2010
Global exports of Idaho products are up nearly 19% from this same quarter in 2009, keeping pace with national growth. Idaho June to September exports were valued at $1,306,885,460.

Idaho exports YTD total $3.83 billion. This is near the record 2008 levels, and is an increase of $1.1 billion compared to 2009.

“The positive growth in global exports is great news for Idaho’s continuing economic recovery,” says Don Dietrich, director of the Idaho Department of Commerce. “While unemployment is still much higher than we would like, growth in exports are a positive sign that job creation will follow.”

The top Idaho export category continues to be semiconductors, but exports of aircraft, office machinery, vegetables and seeds, precious metals, and paper products remained strong. Wood products and transportation industries are notably up from 2009.

The top export destinations for Idaho goods held steady during the third quarter of 2010: with Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Korea. Idaho companies export products to more than 115 countries.
