Ketchum Knows How to Be Eco-friendly

The City of Ketchum, Idaho has partnered with local Ketchum company GreenUp to provide the city’s parks and facilities with Eco-friendly trash bags and trash can liners. The new products will be used throughout the city in seven city parks and span over 300 acres of land.

GreenUp develops environmentally friendly products using “Green Technologies.” The new trash can liners, in addition to containing recycled plastic, incorporate the company’s biodegradable technology which accelerates the natural decomposition of plastic from thousands of years to a matter of months.

“We are excited about working with the City to provide them with a greener alternative to the conventional plastic currently being used,” said GreenUp co-founder Will Roos.

The City of Ketchum has been working to promote business expansion and the nurturing of local business growth. The partnership with GreenUp is an example of the city’s efforts paying off for small companies.

“This is a win-win,” states Community and Economic Development Director Lisa Horowitz. “We are furthering our commitment to green practices, buying local, and helping a new Ketchum company gain exposure in our valley.”

“Lisa Horowitz and Jen Smith (Parks Superintendant) have been extremely helpful working with us to open doors for our company in Blaine County and encouraging us to keep our roots in the Wood River Valley. Ideally, we would like to bring on additional staff in Ketchum to coincide with a growing customer base in Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. Right now we are focused on gaining distribution partners and new product development,” added Roos.
