Segway Tours Come to Downtown Boise

4/27/2009
Boise, ID:  A business that rents out two-wheeled, self-balancing, electric personal transporters is coming to downtown Boise.

Adventure Tours of Idaho is scheduled to open May 1 in the Grove Hotel building, in the space formerly occupied by Pizza Hut. The business will rent out the futuristic-looking vehicles known as Segways for guided tours of downtown or for independent exploring.

Also available will be the Trikke, a three-wheeled electric transporter similar to the Segway.

Tom Padilla, who is starting the business along with partner Greg Reid, said Adventure Tours hopes to attract some of the Grove Hotel’s visitors.

“It’s just an alternate way of seeing the downtown area. There’s no such product right now available,” he said.
